We have been raising and working with Border Collies for over 25 years, during that time we have seen the Border Collie go through many changes...we believe that our Borders are truly the traditional type which is known for size, heavy bone, heavy coat and courage with an amazing passion and instinct to work . Our dogs prove that to us every day.
Our thoughts are versatility....these dogs should be able to work all livestock even wild cattle and yet calm down and quietly work sheep. They should be able to cover rough terrain and long distances in a full days work, and track lost livestock. We have selected a cross that is athletic and biddable along with a watch over livestock attitude that this breed was originally bred for and deserves the recognition.
We find that knowing each of our dogs attributes makes for a winning team and a days work much easier. Every Border on our place contributes something for his keep and that is important for each dog, it promotes confidence and it gives a foundation to build upon.
Our past litters have gone mostly to working homes on ranches and farms, we are pleased that their owners find our dogs exceptional. We like to see and recommend that they do go to homes where they are used and have a job, preferably on a ranch or farm setting. We have on occasion seen our dogs used in trial work and Frisbee competitions and have done very well in that arena. They make great turn-back dogs too!
Its not the pedigree that makes a great dog, many unsung heroes out there are out performing the greatest of lineage. While we believe in correct breeding, many champions in the past have had no royal bloodlines, but the heart and working instinct along with the ability to pass on to their offspring makes them great.
Puppies are usually available along with started dogs, contact us for more information.
"Do not take too much notice of people who say that it does not matter what a sheepdog looks like as long as it works - there has never been a first-class dog yet which did not look good, and always remember that, if your dog or bitch is used for breeding at some time in the future, you will want both looks and brains."
We encourage any questions that you may have and welcome you to visit our Borders.
